2 Firefighters Injured In 2-Alarm Blaze At NYC Diner: FDNY

NEW YORK CITY — FDNY battled a blaze at a Manhattan diner Wednesday that quickly escalated to a two-alarm fire and injured two firefighters, officials said.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call around 11 a.m. for a fire at the Hollywood Diner on 16th Street and 6th Avenue.

FDNY officials said 106 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene. Within 20 minutes, the blaze was upgraded to a two-alarm fire.

The fire seems to have spread to an exercise studio above the diner as well, according to a report.

Two firefighters suffered injuries and were transported to Lenox Health Greenwich Village Hospital, the FDNY said.

The fire was placed under control at 12:50 p.m. No civilians were injured in the fire.
