2 Men Killed In Separate NYC Crashes On Same Day, NYPD Says

Investigations into the two crashes remains ongoing.

NEW YORK CITY — Two men were struck and killed in separate New York City crashes minutes apart this week, police said on Friday.

The first incident happened around 10:04 p.m. at 217 Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens on Wednesday, police said.

A 74-year-old pedestrian, identified as Eric Wexler, was crossing at the corner of 217 St. and Northern Blvd. when a 2017 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 47-year-old man heading east on Northern Blvd. struck him.

Wexler was found with head and body trauma. He was transported to North Shore Manhasset Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver remained at the scene. No charges have been filed as of Friday afternoon.

The second incident happened on Wednesday around 10:07 p.m. on the westbound Belt Parkway, in the vicinity of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, police said.

A 54-year-old man, identified as Vadim Azarov, was walking westbound on the roadway when he was struck by a Lexus RX350 SUV operated by a 24-year-old driver.

The pedestrian sustained severe head trauma and was transported by EMS to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. No charges have been filed in this incident as well.
