3 Killed In Violent NYC Weekend That Saw Scooter Shooting Spree: NYPD
An 86-year-old man was cut down by gunfire Saturday while he walked to a mosque to pray, according to police and reports.
NEW YORK CITY — Three New Yorkers were killed across the city in a weekend wave of violence that included a shooting spree by a gunman on a scooter, police said.
An 86-year-old man and father of six — Hamoo Saiedi — who was on his way to a Queens mosque to pray was among the victims, the New York Post first reported.
Police said Saiedi was shot and killed by Thomas Abreu, 25, who rode a scooter across two boroughs Saturday and is linked to six shootings that injured three people.

But the senseless shootings weren't the only carnage that unfolded over the weekend.
Late Friday, police found a woman, 39, stabbed in the chest while they responded to a reported assault just blocks away from Van Cortlandt Park along East 220th Street in The Bronx, NYPD officials said.

The suspected homicide is still under investigation, police said.
And just hours after the shooting spree Saturday, NYPD officers responded to a robbery call about 8 p.m. at a deli along Manor Road in Staten Island, authorities said. They arrived to find Bassam Khateeb, 35, shot in the chest.
Medics rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. That suspected homicide is also under investigation, police said.
