  1. At a Friday press conference, Mayor Adams announced he won't commit to release even a redacted version of his tax returns to the public, marking a shift from both former Mayors De Blasio and Bloomberg. Separately, Governor Kathy Hochul announced she would make hers available to the press for one and a half hours. (Gothamist)
  2. Two people died in a fire in Manhattan's Chinatown that broke out at around 3:50 a.m., with over 100 fire fighters on the scene. The blaze also destroyed two small businesses located on the street level of the tenement building. (New York Post)
  3. Brian Benjamin's resignation following his arrest on bribery charges earlier this week means the race for Lieutenant Governor, the position he previously held, is wide open. Other potential candidates are progressive Ana María Archila, the co-founder of Make The Road New York, and centrist Diana Reyna. (The City)
  4. NYC officials are considering implementing a 'weapons detector' in subway stations. Estimated to scan passersby ten times faster than a traditional metal detector could, Mayor Adams is considering this addition to the MTA network following a mass-shooting in Brooklyn earlier this week. (Gothamist)
  5. Luxury doormen from across New York City are planning to strike if they cannot reach a deal soon on a new contract with the Realty Advisory Board. The board’s proposal would cut some insurance benefits and doesn't include a sufficient wage increase, the workers contended at a protest this week. (The City)
