Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?
My daughter Nadine started school when she was 2 years old in Jamaica, West Indies. At the age of 4 years old, she arranged the smooth stones as a classroom in our yard space. She used chalk to write names on the stones, and proceeded to teach the stones as her own classroom. We migrated to USA in 1986, my daughter was 9 years old. Nadine went to Elementary, Jr., and High School in The Bronx. She graduated from DeWitt Clinton HS and went on to Temple University where she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Education at age 19 years old. She went on to Bank Street School of Education where she graduated with her Master's in Special Education.
It's been 26 years since she has been teaching and Nadine is still PASSIONATE about going to work and teaching America's children and inspiring future scholars for our nation. Nadine Tomlinson my daughter is a true American inspiration who has given back faithfully to our great nation. I commend her.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?
In whatever you do, whatever field of work you choose, you have to be taught. You will always need a teacher to teach you the skills, knowledge and competence you need to succeed. Teachers make a difference everyday in ALL walks of life. Teachers made an enormous difference in my life and my children 's life so that they're productive citizens today in our nation.
