Alleged Threesome Sparked Carnival Magic Brawl: Report

Eyewitness Theresa James told Fox News Digital those involved were "ignorant fools acting stupid."

NEW YORK CITY — A tumultuous love triangle sparked a bottle-breaking brawl aboard the Carnival Magic cruise ship near New York City earlier this week, according to a passenger who reportedly witnessed the fight.

About 60 people were involved in a beer bottle-smashing fight on a dance floor on the boat, which was near the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, about 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to police and a Fox News Digital report.

James, a travel agent, reportedly said the hour-long fight was triggered by allegations of cheating and those involved were “ignorant fools acting stupid."

The travel agent thanked the Carnival Magic cruise security for deescalating the situation before it got further out of control.

Patch reached out to the NYPD, and a police spokeswoman said it is still unclear if the altercation was within New York waters or New Jersey waters. The U.S. Coast Guard was not available for comment on Friday.

Matt Lupoli, a Carnival Cruise spokesman, said Tuesday that no one was badly hurt.

“Thankfully no serious injuries were reported and our onboard security team intervened,” said Lupoli. “The ship arrived as scheduled this morning."

Cruise security officers called the U.S. Coast Guard, which escorted the ship to Pier 88 in Hell's Kitchen, where cops were waiting, the NYPD said and Carnival Cruise confirmed Tuesday.

"We wanted to make sure that when the individuals got off the boat there were no further disputes on the streets in Manhattan," the NYPD spokesperson told Patch. “They were there to expedite the disembarkation process."

Neither police nor Lupoli had information on how many passengers were interviewed on Tuesday, but the NYPD noted there were no further conflicts.

“The ship arrived on schedule,” he said. “There are no arrests at this time.”
