NEW YORK CITY — An anti-violence activist who recently appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast faces a murder charge after a dismembered body was found in a Bronx home, according to police and a report.

Sheldon Johnson, 48, was arrested Thursday in the death of Collin Small, 44, whom cops found cut into pieces inside 979 Summit Ave., an apartment building blocks away from Yankee Stadium, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

The grisly discovery of Small's dismembered, headless torso Tuesday evening prompted an investigation that led cops to Johnson, authorities said.

Johnson had recently been released after 25 years in prison on a robbery charge — a stint that inspired him to delve into advocacy, the New York Daily News first reported.

Shortly after Johnson's release last year, he appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast, the Daily News reported.

The appearance wasn't the only high-profile attention Johnson garnered. He, his father Sheldon Johnson Sr., and his son were featured in a Buzzfeed News profile titled "Three Sheldons" about the family's generational "cycle of imprisonment."

"One of my greatest fears is growing old and being alone in here and dying in prison," the middle Johnson told Buzzfeed.

Police didn't have details on what exactly happened Tuesday inside the Summit Avenue apartment, but the Daily News reported that people in the building heard gunshots early that morning.

Video surveillance footage obtained by the paper showed a man wearing various outfits, including a blond woman's wig, throughout the day carrying garbage bags and containers in and out from the building's elevator.

Cops eventually found Small's dismembered body during a wellness check Tuesday about 8:25 p.m., officials said.

Johnson faces charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
