Bill De Blasio To Pay $330K For Misusing Funds During Presidential Campaign
A settlement was reached between the two parties on Wednesday.
NEW YORK CITY — Former Mayor Bill de Blasio will have to pay more than $300,000 for improperly using taxpayer funds for his NYPD security detail during his 2019 presidential campaign, according to the city Conflicts of Interest Board.
De Blasio will pay $329,794.20 in restitution to taxpayers. The former mayor has already paid for $100,000. The remaining fine of nearly $230,000 will be paid back over the next four years, according to reports.
De Blasio had allegedly used his NYPD detail to attend a Red Sox game in Los Angeles during a campaign trip, according to the New York Post.
