Black Cop Sued For Calling White Officer 'Kardashian Chic'

A PSA 9 lieutenant stands accused of mocking a white officer's "too curvaceous" body and her relationship with a black man, records show.

NEW YORK CITY — A black lieutenant faces a discrimination lawsuit from the white police officer she allegedly called "Kardashian chic" and who told her any children she had with her boyfriend of color would be "messed up," court records show.

Vanessa Weinbel filed suit against Police Service Area 9 Lt. Rasheena Huffman — whom she accuses of mocking her interracial relationship and "too curvaceous" backside — in Brooklyn Federal Court Tuesday, according to court records.

The lawsuit details years of alleged commentary, made by Huffman in the Flushing, Queens police station, on Weinbel's body, relationship with a black man, and personal hygiene made from 2016 through 2018.

Driving home from a funeral on Aug. 1, 2017, Huffman launched into a tirade about the "mixed children" of interracial couples, according to the suit.

Huffman allegedly told Weinbel the United States Census would need to add "confused" to the list of races for her children, who could not select black or white.

"People should stick with their own because your kids won't come out right or look like
you," Huffman allegedly said.

Earlier that year, Huffman ordered Weinbel to open her mouth so she could "check for sores" after picking up the officer's water bottle in the PSA 9 Roll Call Office, the suit claims.

"Ewww, oh my god!" Huffman allegedly said. "Who knows where your mouth has been."

Weinbel reported Huffman's behavior to the NYPD but was told by the department's Housing Bureau Investigations Unit in May 2018 that there was not enough evidence to make a complaint.

At around the same time, Huffman filed a complaint against Weinbel in March 2018 for wearing "too revealing" clothes and accused her of "trying to seduce the male officers with the size of her butt," the lawsuit reads.

Weinbel first filed a $15 million notice of claim in August 2018, the Daily News reported at the time.

The complaint requests a jury trial.
