Body Believed To Be Missing 2-Year-Old Found In East River: Reports
The city's medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.

NEW YORK CITY — A Bronx boy, who has been missing since last month, was found in the East River near the Whitestone Bridge on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
The NYPD Harbor Unit found the body of 2-year-old Montrell Williams off Ferry Point near the Whitestone Bridge, sources told FOX 5 NY and NBC New York. A positive identification will still have to be made.
Williams was last seen on May 10 at his grandmother’s house in the Bronx, police previously said.

The boy's father, Arius Willaims, was caught on surveillance video throwing a bag in the Bronx River. It is not known at this time if the 2-year-old boy was inside.
There are moments that we captured that were unthinkable, and we will leave it at that, what a catastrophe, what a shame, what a horror, totally evil," NYPD Chief of Department John Chell said.

The boy's 17-year-old mother initially called police after she worried about her son's whereabouts. According to reports, police took a domestic report and the case was not forwarded to detectives.
On Monday, the boy's mother allegedly confronted the 20-year-old father about the child's whereabouts and called police when he claimed he threw their son into the Bronx River and pulled a knife on her, according to ABC7 NY.
Montrell's father was jailed after he failed to disclose the child's location. The 20-year-old has not yet been criminally charged.
