Brooklyn Imam Receives Death Threat Letter Signed 'Muslim Slayer'
"I have a dirty little secret," the letter said, according to police. "I fantasize about killing nonwhites."
GRAVESEND, BROOKLYN — The leader of a mosque in South Brooklyn received a threatening letter on Tuesday from an anonymous sender who signed the letter "Muslim Slayer," according to the NYPD.
Imam Ibrahim Yavas, a religious leader at the American Turkish Eyup Sultan Cultural Center, received the letter at the mosque, where he lives, according to NBC. The house of worship is located on the corner of Shore Parkway and Brighton 3rd Street.
“I have a dirty little secret," the letter said, according to the NYPD. "I fantasize about killing nonwhites. It really turns me on and I’m afraid you’re on my list."

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the threat, police said.
Imam Yavas said the Turkish Consulate was also notified about the letter.

Last year was "the worst year on record for incidents in which mosques were targets of bias," according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
NYPD data shows there were three reported hate crimes against Muslims in the first two months of 2017, up from two crimes in the same time period in 2016.
