NYC Mayor Releases $85 Billion Budget Plan For Fiscal Year 2018

De Blasio's proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year includes money for 2,000 more police officers and 1,300 miles of repaved roads.

NEW YORK, NY — NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio released his administration's $85 billion budget recommendations for Fiscal Year 2018 on Tuesday afternoon, amid what he called "deep uncertainty" about what kind of funding the city will receive from the federal government under President Donald Trump.

In particular, De Blasio wants to put millions of dollars toward additional NYPD officers and resources; extensive road repaving ("Pave, baby, pave!" the mayor said at his Tuesday press conference); public-housing roof repairs; and new school programs, personnel and infrastructure.

Here are some of the plan's more significant allocations:

Before the mayor's budget is written in stone, it will have to be reviewed and approved by the New York City Council. That process will end in late June.
