Cardi B Says NYC Budget Cut Will Send Crime Soaring, Raccoons Twerking
"The world is in f---ing shambles," and the proof is in New York City's budget cuts, rapper Cardi B said in a passionate Instagram live.

NEW YORK CITY — Cardi B sees a bleak future for New York City after major mid-year budget cuts were proposed last week: crime spikes, poor education for the city's youngest and "raccoons twerking" on 42nd Street, the rapper said.
Cardi B on Sunday said Mayor Eric Adams' proposed budget cuts — which include slashes to libraries, the NYPD and the Education department — are "embarrassing" for New Yorkers.
"We really really really really really really really really are f---ed right now," Cardi B said in a passionate Instagram live video.

"Mayor Adams if you want to f---ing link up with me, we could link up at your nearest IHOP."
Bronx native Cardi B said she was concerned about her loved ones — and took issue with cuts affecting kids.

The city's Education department will shave off a significant cut, reducing its budget by over $1 billion over the next two fiscal years.
Meanwhile, proposed cuts to libraries will mean the end of Sunday service at most branches across the city's three public library systems starting Nov. 26, according to library officials.
"Where these kids are gonna go?" Cardi B said. "What's gonna happen to my nieces, what's gonna happen to my nephews, my aunts, my friends that's living in the hood?"
The city's Sanitation department will also tighten its belt by $32 million in fiscal year 2024, but city hall officials said no direct rat mitigation efforts will be targeted.
Some litter baskets will be removed from city streets and the rollout of the curbside organics collection in the Bronx will be delayed, city hall officials said.
"New York is already f---ing super dirty," Cardi B said. "We're gonna be drowning in rats. Rats and squirrels and raccoons."
Joining a chorus of New Yorkers concerned about the November budget modification, Cardi B took issue with Mayor Eric Adams blaming budget cuts on an ongoing influx of migrants to the city.
She cited her court-ordered community service, which she has said changed her life.
"That s--- opened my eyes," she said.
Cardi B's city politics tune is right on key with Comptroller Brad Lander, local parents and the New York Working Families Party.
For her, the New York City cuts are a cautionary tale of what's to come across the country, and Cardi B also took aim at Joe Biden and his promises to send significant aid to Israel and Ukraine in a time of domestic belt-tightening.
"Y'all throwing budget cuts on the biggest city in the United States," Cardi B said. "This s--- is getting out of hand.
"Is America going broke? Yes."
