NYC Weekend Weather Forecast: Snow!!!

UPDATES: Chances are rising that NYC will get winter's first snow dusting before Christmas.

NEW YORK CITY, NY — The city's cold, wet December-scape could finally get some snow-globe action this weekend, according to an increasingly certain forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Any slim chance of snow Friday had been ruled out by afternoon. However, government forecasters predicted possible "scattered snow flurries" on Saturday, which will be seriously cold (with a high temp of 37 and a wind chill value of up to 25) but still partly sunny.

The city will then see a 30 percent chance of snow after 5 p.m. Sunday — and a whopping 70 percent chance of snow after 9 p.m. Sunday.

Up to half an inch of snow could build up on the ground overnight Sunday, according to the NWS.

Forecasters are then predicting a 70 percent chance of either snow or rain continuing to fall Monday morning.

After 12 p.m. Monday, though, temps will likely rise above 40 degrees and turn all the precipitation to rain, according to the NWS — so make sure to get out into the lit-up streets of NYC to do your little snow-bunny prance while the flakes are still sticking Sunday night into Monday morning, if they do at all.
