Number Of Coronavirus Cases In NYC Climbs Again Overnight
Another five people have tested positive, the mayor said.
NEW YORK CITY – The number of cases of the new coronavirus in New York City went up again overnight with 25 people now confirmed sick, the mayor said.
Bill de Blasio again went on TV to make the announcement, telling the audience of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" about the increase before the information was officially released by the city.
He did not give details of the new cases.

The amount of people sickened has gone up significantly since the first person tested positive on March 2. On Monday night, 20 people were confirmed sick including the head of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Rick Cotton.

Statewide, the number of cases went up by 25 overnight, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on CNN. That number is now 165.
De Blasio has told New Yorkers to avoid crowded spaces, advising them not to get onto packed subways and to telecommute if possible.
There are no plans to close public schools yet, though NYU became the latest school to close classes and teach remotely.
There are also no plans to cancel next Tuesday's St. Patrick's Day parade, the mayor said, though Cuomo said the event was "one of the things we're looking at." Ireland has already canceled its parade over coronavirus fears.
