Curfew Will Ban Traffic South Of 96th Street In Manhattan

Only essential workers, buses and delivery trucks will be allowed past the street.

NEW YORK CITY — Almost all vehicles will be banned south of Manhattan's 96th Street as the city imposes a curfew at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Only essential workers, buses and delivery trucks will be allowed on the roads, the NYPD said in a tweet.

The curfew was put in place after two nights of violence and looting hit New York City.

It will be in effect from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. every night until Sunday.
