De Blasio Admits He Doesn't Always Wipe Down Gym Equipment
The mayor couldn't say that he wipes off the equipment he uses "every single time."

NEW YORK — He's making the Big Apple the sweatiest big city in the world. Mayor Bill de Blasio admitted Thursday that he doesn't always wipe down the gym equipment he uses during his workouts.
While he said he has a "rich history" of giving the equipment a courteous wipedown, de Blasio couldn't say that he does so "every single time."
"I’m being truthful. But I try to be consistent," he told reporters at an unrelated news conference.

The Democratic mayor made his confession in response to a question about a flyer mocking his gym etiquette at the Park Slope YMCA where he prefers to exercise.
"Don't Be Like BILL! Wipe down all equipment after use," read the flyer, which showed up in a locker room at the Y earlier this week.

Another flyer posted at the Ninth Street gym telling visitors they must not run for president in 2020 if they went inside. That has apparently not deterred de Blasio's White House ruminations — he said he will decide whether to enter the already crowded Democratic primary field this month.
The flyers were hung by a group of Park Slopers who plan to hold a rally demanding that de Blasio focus on more pressing issues at home. But the mayor said he hadn't seen either one.
"I’ve done a lot of flyering in my day. These are really incompetent flyerers because I never see their stuff," he said.
