Delays Hit 16 Subway Lines As NYC Returns From Holiday Weekend: MTA

NEW YORK CITY — A poky post-Presidents' Day greeted straphangers as they took to the subways.

Sixteen subway lines saw delays during Tuesday morning's rush hour, according to MTA posts.

Nine delays lingered past 9 a.m., notably on the A, C, F and G lines in both directions because of debris on the tracks and an FDNY investigation at York Street, the MTA posted.

A disruptive passenger caused delays for 7 trains entering and leaving 34th Street-Hudson Yards as NYPD officers responded, officials posted.

Trains headed north on the 4 and 5 lines ran with delays after crews removed a train with a mechanical problem at Nevins Street, the MTA posted.

B trains headed south were also delayed because of crews removing a train from service at Kings Highway, according to a post.

The B line, as well as the D, saw further delays headed south because of a switch problem near Tremont Avenue, an MTA post states.

A signal problem near 30th Avenue delayed N and W trains headed south, the MTA posted.

MTA crews had resolved problems on the following lines:
  • the 4 and 5, which had a train with a mechanical problem at Nevins Street
  • C and E headed south, which were delayed by a door problem at 14th Street
  • R line headed north, which were delayed by someone pulling the brake cord at 49th Street
  • the L headed to Eighth Avenue, because of a train with mechanical problems at Broadway Junction
  • 1 line because of a train with a door problem at 34th Street-Penn Station
