Dog Thrown Down Trash Chute At NYC NYCHA Complex: NYPD
The dog was at the Governor Alfred E. Smith NYCHA complex on South Street inside a compacter in building 180, police said.

NEW YORK CITY — Police are searching for a person who threw a dog down a trash cute at a Lower Manhattan NYCHA complex and left the animal to die, police said.
The dog was found on Aug. 23 at the Governor Alfred E. Smith NYCHA complex on South Street inside a compacter in building 180, police said.
The dog suffered four broken legs after being thrown down the chute and had to be transported to a local ASPCA.

The injuries proved to be too severe, and the dog was euthanized to "end existing and ongoing pain,"a ASPCA spokesperson said.
It is unclear at this time how long the dog was left in the compacter or who the dog belongs to.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning. An investigation remains ongoing, police said.
