School Elevator Attendant, 67, Sexually Abused 15-Year-Old in Bronx: Police

The NYPD arrested a man who was on-duty at the time for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

NEW YORK, NY — The NYPD has arrested a city employee in a disgusting case of sexual abuse on a 15-year-old girl in the Bronx.

The NYPD announced Monday night they had arrested Trevor Bernard, 67, for endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse.

Police say Bernard, who worked as an elevator attendant at a school in the Morrisania section of the Bronx, grabbed a 15-year-old girl when she entered the elevator and would not let go. She managed to push him off and exited the elevator, police said.

Bernard was on-duty with the school at the time.

Bernard was one of two city employees arrested on Monday.

Dwayne Steward, 35, was arrested in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn for drunk driving. Steward is a bus driver with the MTA, but he was off-duty at the time.
