NEW YORK CITY — The heat wave in New York City continues as the area will temperatures in the mid-90s for three days straight, according to forecasters.
The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for New York City from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday.
In addition, a heat advisory will be in effect in New York City beginning at noon and will last until 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the NWS.

Friday will be a hot one, with a high temperature of 94 degrees and sunny skies. High humidity will make it feel like 100 degrees outside, according to AccuWeather.
Saturday will be just as hot and humid, with temperatures reaching 91 degrees.

Sunday will be the hottest day with temperatures reaching 95 degrees with partly sunny skies, forecasters said.
Experts recommend avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon and evening hours, which is usually the hottest part of the day.
People who must be outside are encouraged to drink plenty of water and take breaks to cool off in the shade, according to AccuWeather.
Due to the heat wave, the city has opened more than 500 cooling centers. They are open to the public and include libraries, senior centers and other locations.
