Final Democratic Mayoral Primary Debate On Thursday: What To Know

NEW YORK CITY — The second and final 2025 Democratic mayoral primary debate will take place on Thursday.

While 11 candidates took part in the first debate last week, only seven candidates qualified for the debate stage on Thursday. Here's what to know:

Andrew Cuomo, Brad Lander, Zohran Mamdani, Adrienne Adams, Zellnor Myrie, Scott Stringer and Whitney Tilson are expected to participate.

The debate will air at 7 p.m. on Spectrum News NY1.

What To Expect From Thursday's Debate

Following the first debate, candidates could continue to single out Cuomo over his sexual harassment scandal back in 2021 and the federal investigation over whether he lied to Congress about nursing home deaths during the pandemic.

Cuomo Vs. Mamdani Part 2

The second debate could see Cuomo and Mamdani go head-to-head again on their respective records and experience.

In the first debate, Cuomo said: “Donald Trump would go through Mr. Mamdani like a hot knife through butter,” Cuomo said. “He’s been in government 27 minutes. He passed three bills.”

In response, Mamdani, said Cuomo could not be trusted in office and to confront President Trump. In addition, he argued Cuomo was shared some of the same donors that are allied with Trump.

ICE Protests In NYC

A key topic that could play a big part in the debate could be the recent ICE protests in New York City and the Trump administration's federal immigration raids.

Thursday will be the final chance for Adrienne Adams, Zellnor Myrie, Scott Stringer and Whitney Tilson and Brad Lander to convene their message to voters. The 5 candidates have been behind in polls to Cuomo and Mamdani. What they say on Thursday could impact ranked-choice votes on June 24.
