NEW YORK CITY — Harvey Weinstein was transported from Rikers Island to a New York City hospital for emergency heart surgery, according to a report.
Weinstein was taken to Bellevue hospital after he complained about chest pains Sunday, his lawyers told ABC News on Monday.
"We can confirm that Mr. Weinstein had a procedure and surgery on his heart today, however cannot comment any further than that," they told the outlet.

"We are grateful to the executive team at the New York City Department of Correction and Rikers Island for acting swiftly in taking him to Bellevue Hospital."
The 72-year-old was due in court in Manhattan on Thursday for his retrial on sex crimes charges.

In August, Governor Kathy Hochul, exercised her authority for him to remain in New York State until his case in New York County is adjudicated, according to the Queens District Attorney.
In April 2024, Weinstein's New York convictions were overturned after a majority of judges found that a Manhattan judge in Weinstein's 2020 trial erroneously admitted testimony from three women who accused the producer of sexual misconduct, Patch previously reported.
Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison for another conviction in Los Angeles.
Weinstein has denied that he raped or sexually assaulted anyone.
A tentative retrial date had been scheduled for November 12.
