Henri Latest: NYC Under Tropical Storm Warning, Hurricane On LI
Henri is expected to hit Long Island as a category one hurricane, but then head towards Connecticut.

NEW YORK CITY – Henri is now expected to hit New York as a category one hurricane early Sunday afternoon, churning across the East End of Long Island but missing New York City by miles as it heads north towards Connecticut.
A hurricane warning is in effect for southwest Suffolk County, the National Weather Service said Saturday. In New York City, a tropical storm warning is in place in all boroughs.
It would be the first hurricane to make landfall on Long Island since Hurricane Gloria in 1985.

Henri was upgraded from a tropical storm to a category one hurricane Saturday. It was about 340 miles south southeast of NYC shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday with winds up to 75 mph, the service said. It was moving at 18 mph.
In the city, wind gusts up to 45 mph are expected, though they could be up to 73 mph, the NWS said.

"Remaining efforts to protect life and property should be completed as soon as possible. Prepare for significant wind damage," the service said.
A flood watch is also in place, with up to six inches of rain possible.
The impact is expected to hit mainly between Sunday afternoon and evening.
