Yesterday the City Council and Mayor reached a historic $101 billion budget agreement, judges threw out recently redrawn Assembly districts, and the price of gas is 50% higher than last year. - NYC's two main Adams – City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Mayor Eric Adams – reached a record-breaking $101 billion city budget deal on Friday. The deal includes 90% of what the council requested according to Speaker Adams – including $4 billion in childcare funding and $223 million for subway safety outreach programs. (New York City Patch)
- Judges on Friday tossed out New York's redistricted Assembly maps, ruling that they were unfairly drawn. The June 28 primary elections will continue as scheduled this month on the currently approved maps, but new ones must be drawn within the next two years. (New York City Patch)
- The Department of Transportation plans to test out physical barriers next to bike lanes, which are intended to increase safety for both bikers and pedestrians. The agency would like rider's feedback. The first barriers will be installed on Union Square East. (AMNY)
- Gas prices in New York City rose by more than 50% in May, when compared to last year. That's just one jarring statistic from what's now President Biden's top economic priority: inflation. Similarly, the price of meat rose 15% and the price of consumer goods overall rose 8.5%. (New York City Patch)
- New York City is a "dinning hot spot" for bottle-nose dolphins, based on the results of a recent study that surveyed their eating habits across the harbor. Dolphin feeding activity tends to be at its peak in late summer and early fall. (AMNY)

- The 2022 Puerto Rican Day Parade will begin marching up 5th Avenue at 11 a.m., also on Sunday.

- Two teenage boys drowned to death in Jamaica Bay on Friday. (New York City Patch)
- A 63-year-old man was beaten by two strangers at a Forest Hills subway station on Wednesday, robbing him of jewelry and approximately $1,000 cash. (New York City Patch)

- Staten Island ranks the highest in a new quality of life poll from New York 1/Siena College. A whopping 91% of residents described themselves as "satisfied." The Bronx came in the lowest at 57%. (SILive.com)
- Rapper Jay-Z is teaming up with former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to teach youth living in the NYCHA public housing development where he grew up the wonders of investing in Bitcoin. (Gawker)
- Mayor Adams wears special crystals on his wrist that he thinks give off healing energy. In fact, New York City itself sits on top of one giant crystal, he says. (New York Post)
