  1. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Governor Hochul pledged to spend $2.6 million to cover health care costs for the state's roughly 40,000 survivors – 40 percent of whom live in poverty. (New York City Patch)
  2. With COVID-19 cases rising in New York City, the Department of Education announced it will send all students home with four at-home tests per week, indefinitely. Two of those tests are intended for children, and the other two for their parents. (SILive.com)
  3. DNA samples taken by the FBI from Frank James, the suspected subway shooter from last week's altercation in Sunset Park, may have violated his constitutional rights, according to a letter penned by his public defenders. Lawyers say that agents entered James's jail cell without informing them, meaning the DNA sample may need to be scrapped. (New York City Patch
  4. New York City's "pay transparency" law will go into effect on Nov. 1. After that time all NYC job postings will be required to include minimum and maximum salaries. The law aims to target the gender pay gap. (Gothamist)
  5. New York City joined 16 states in suing the United States Postal Service over its decision to replace a large portion of its fossil fuel-powered fleet, rather than considering a switch to a greener all-electric alternative. The suit argues the USPS broke a law known as the National Environmental Policy Act. (New York City Patch)
