  1. Ivana Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump, was found dead in her Upper East Side apartment on Thursday. She was 73. Both the former president and his children released statements honoring her life. Ivana Trump made headlines in the 90s when she accused her ex-husband of raping her–a charge she later walked back.   2. NYC ferry tickets are now going for $4 a pop, up from $2.75, which is the price of a subway ride. The change comes with new discounted fares for roughly one million low-income city residents, and the option to pay a lower price if you buy 10 tickets at a time. (New York City Patch)
  3. A new national 3-digit suicide prevention number, 988, is set to launch across New York State this Saturday, July 16. It will connect people in distress with trained councilors, while reducing the reliance on law enforcement agencies in responding to mental health emergencies. The hotline also comes with a chat function on its website. (SILive.com)
  4. New Yorkers eager to open a cannabis business may get their chance as early as the end of the summer, after the NY Cannabis Control Board voted to approve regulations. The first licenses will benefit people who have suffered from the over criminalization of weed in the state. (Patch)
  5. The MTA has quietly been removing their iconic COVID-era yellow mask signs from the subway over the past month. Meanwhile, a rarely-enforced mask mandate remains in place on public transit. (AMNY)
