Jets Player Shot Outside NYC Restaurant; Rushed To Hospital In Critical Condition

NEW YORK — Jets defensive back Kris Boyd was critically injured in a shooting early Sunday outside a Midtown restaurant, according to reports.
The 29-year-old was shot in the abdomen shortly after 2 a.m. in front of Sei Less in the 100 block of West 38th Street, police said, adding he was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in critical but stable condition. The investigation was ongoing, according to police.
Police did not identify the victim as Boyd, but a law enforcement official familiar with the situation confirmed to The New York Times that the man was Boyd. The newspaper reported the shooting stemmed from a dispute among a small group.

In a prepared statement Sunday afternoon, the Jets said the team was “aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

“Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety,” Johnson wrote in the social media post.
Boyd was put on injured reserve after he hurt his shoulder during a practice in August, according to the Jets. He previously appeared in all 17 games last season with the Texans. Boyd was originally drafted by the Vikings in 2019.
