Manhattan DA Blew $250K On Fancy Hotels, Trips: Report
Cyrus Vance Jr. reportedly spent close to $250,000 on meals and work-related travel, including 4 nights in "a true Parisian mansion."

NEW YORK — Cyrus Vance Jr. reportedly has expensive taste. The Manhattan district attorney spent nearly $250,000 on meals, travel and high-end hotels in recent years, including a stay at a "Parisian mansion," a new report says.
Vance, a Democrat, racked up $249,716 in expenses over the last five years as he made work-related excursions to such far-flung destinations as Los Angeles, London and Paris, THE CITY reported Tuesday.
On some of the treks, Vance splurged on luxe accommodations such as the Hôtel d’Aubusson, a hotel described as being "housed in a true Parisian mansion" where four nights cost the DA $2,816, according to the story.

Vance has also spent hundreds of dollars wining and dining guests and staff at New York City restaurants, including a $645 bill at Patroon in November 2017 and five visits to Odeon in the past year worth $897, according to the report.
The bills were paid with money from a state asset-forfeiture fund "largely tied to big-sum legal settlements with banks," THE CITY reported. The DA reportedly defended his trips, saying he needed to travel to conferences on issues such as gun control and anti-terrorism.

"I can’t look at my defensive perimeter as the southern and northern tip of Manhattan," Vance told THE CITY. "It requires an international approach and international partnerships and relationships to do the work that we do."
