Adams Says He's Staying In NYC Mayoral Race, Despite Trump Admin Job Offers
In a statement released on Friday, Adams said serving New Yorkers as their mayor" is the only job I've ever wanted."

NEW YORK CITY — Despite reports of potentially dropping out of the New York City mayoral race and taking a role in the Trump administration, Mayor Eric Adams reiterated on Friday that he is still running for election.
In a statement released on Friday, Adams said serving New Yorkers as their mayor" is the only job I’ve ever wanted."
I’m proud of the progress we’ve made lowering crime, improving schools, building housing, and cutting costs for working families — and I remain the best person to lead this city forward. While I will always listen if called to serve our country, no formal offers have been made. I am still running for reelection, and my full focus is on the safety and quality of life of every New Yorker," the mayor added.

According to a New York Times report earlier this week, advisers to President Donald Trump are in talks about possibly giving Adams a job in his administration if he drops out of the crowded race for mayor.
A report on Friday from the Times and Politico details that the role being discussed is the ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The conversations also involved finding a place in the Trump administration for Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
Sliwa on Thursday said that the White House has not contacted him, and he is not interested in a role with the Trump administration.
Trump this week called for two candidates to drop out of the race, so there could be a one-on-one race with Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani.
“I’d prefer not to have a communist mayor of New York City, and you know, that’s what he is based on his policies, if you look at his statements in the past. And so, I would like to see two people drop out, and have it be one-on-one, and I think that’s a race that could be won," the president said.
A close friend and adviser to Adams told CBS News that he thinks the mayor will be out of the election within a week.
