Meteor Blazes Through NYC Skies
Several New Yorkers spotted a flaming meteor as it sailed over the Northeast Wednesday night. Did you see it?

NEW YORK — Several New Yorkers caught a glimpse of a flaming meteor that sailed over the Northeast Wednesday night. The American Meteor Society said 361 people had reported seeing the fireball as of Thursday afternoon, including 13 in New York City.
Sightings in the city lasted no longer than about 3.5 seconds, but sky-watchers were wowed by the meteor's kaleidoscope of colors such as green, red and blue, according to reports submitted to the society.
"I was looking out my apartment window towards the Hudson River and saw a green fireball fairly low in the sky," wrote Irene W., who saw the object on the Upper East Side around 11 p.m. Wednesday. "It was like a big green flare heading in a downward direction."
