Miffed Pilots Flew NYPD Spy Plane In Penis-Shaped Route: Report
A feud with their boss reportedly led the pilots to fly the salacious route.

NEW YORK, NY — They certainly got it up. A group of miffed NYPD pilots flew a pricy spy plane in a route shaped like a penis to get back at their boss, a new report in the New York Post says.
Several pilots got locked in a debate with Inspector James Coan, head of the Police Department's Aviation Unit, over whether they should fly the $4 million single-engine Cessna aircraft over open water to check ships for radiological weapons, says the story published Tuesday.
Coan reportedly ordered pilots to fly such routes more frequently in March, but aviators objected that they were dangerous. Five pilots flew the lewd pattern in protest amid the debate, the Post reported.

Supervisors noticed the prank and the pilots were "disciplined following a departmental hearing," the story says.
The creation of airborne genitalia isn't the only questionable use of the high-tech plane, which was reportedly paid for with a federal grant.

The NYPD used the craft to bring Mayor Bill de Blasio to a police memorial event in the Bronx from Canada, where he was vacationing, the Post reported in early July.
