1 Killed, Motorist Arrested After Deadly BQE Crash, Police Say

NEW YORK CITY — A 44-year-old driver has been arrested and charged after a fatal crash on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway over the weekend, police said Monday.
The incident happened on Saturday around 10 p.m. on the expressway near Tillary Street, police said.
A 27-year-old man was operating a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound on the expressway in the left lane when he struck the rear of a 2015 Honda Accord which was stopping for traffic, police said.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Laura Cordova, of Queens, was in the left lane and had stopped for traffic when the crash occurred, police said.
Cordova has been charged with use of a vehicle without ignition interlock and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

EMS transported the 27-year-old man in critical condition to the Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The man's identity has not been released as of Monday evening.
An investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
