New York City Saw Its First Accumulating December Snow Since 2021
1.8 inches of snow fell in Central Park Saturday, the National Weather Service said. NYC's last measurable December snow was in 2021.
NEW YORK CITY — The first day of winter brought accumulating snow to New York City in December for the first time in about three years this weekend.
Central Park saw 1.8 inches fall on Saturday by 7 a.m., the National Weather Service posted to X, formerly Twitter. The last measurable snowfall was .2 inches on Christmas Eve in 2021.
Saturday morning’s snow was also the first full inch or more to fall in December since 4 inches was recorded on Dec. 17, 2020, NWS said. That 4 inches was part of a bigger winter storm that dropped 10.5 on Central Park on Dec. 16-17 of that year.

Other parts of the tri-state area, including areas in New York and New Jersey, woke up to find as much as 4 to 5 inches of snow, NBC New York reported.

Though no more snow is expected, it will still be chilly in New York City with temperatures in the teens and wind chills in the single digits expected Sunday morning, according to the NWS forecast for New York City.
