Have you ever wanted a good ol' fashioned handyman to take care of small jobs around the apartment — like painting, carpet shampooing, mold and mildew, flooring, picture hanging, deep cleaning, flat screen install etc.? Lois and Mark of “At Your Service” are a one stop shop based in Yorkville who specialize in small jobs in NYC apartments and townhouses. They’re insured and also work closely with realtors and landlords. Email or call Lois for an estimate: lois@yourserviceman.com or 917-560-2947.

Here are the top five stories today in New York City:

  1. New York State's top appeals court announced on Wednesday its decision to throw out newly-drawn Congressional and State Senate district lines, suggesting they had been gerrymandered to favor Democratic lawmakers. The State Senate and Congress primary date will also likely be pushed back from June 28 to sometime in August. (New York City Patch)
  2. See a cop on the phone? Say something. That's Mayor Adams' new suggestion to straphangers, in an attempt to stop police officers from slacking off on the job. The mayor suggested this week that subway riders should send him pictures of police using their phones, contradicting his previous assertions that recording cops could lead to an escalation. Patch would also like your photos of cops on their phones. You can send them to patch_nyc@patch.com. (New York City Patch)
  3. One person was arrested after a shooting in East New York, which led to a car chase across Brooklyn, shortly before midnight on Tuesday. The shooter is still on the loose, according to authorities. (WABC-TV)
  4. The MTA is shifting its focus to the issue of fare evasion–but don't call it a crackdown. The transit agency's Chair and CEO Janno Lieber described it as being "at the verge of an epidemic." He wants to stop fare evasion by creating new turnstile designs and cracking down on "porous" emergency exits. (New York City Patch)
  5. Former President Trump is appealing a ruling issued days ago holding him in contempt of court with a $10,000 per day fine. Separately, he is also challenging a judge's ruling that he must answer questions under oath. (Spectrum News NY1)
