NY State Senator Jessica Ramos Launches NYC Mayoral Bid

NEW YORK CITY — State Senator Jessica Ramos announced she would be running for New York City Mayor next year, joining a growing list of primary challengers for Mayor Eric Adams.

"In 2025, we are fighting for the heart and soul of New York City," the senator said in a YouTube video posted Friday morning.

Ramos will join Comptroller Brad Lander, former Comptroller Scott Stringer, and state Sen. Zellnor Myrie in the crowded race.

Ramos, in her announcement video, criticized Adams and the current administration.

"You'll never have to wonder who I'm working for or who is paying me," Ramos said. "We need to bring that trust back to City Hall.

The 39-year-old senator is from Queens and has two sons. In the video, she touted helping raise the minimum wage, expanded child care in New York and fought for union workers and small businesses.

"I'm a mother, I'm a renter, I'm a straphanger, and I'm ready to be the next Mayor of New York City," she said.
