NEW YORK CITY — The city plans on closing 13 migrant shelters by June and announced they would be opening one additional shelter in the Bronx.

In total, the city will be cutting 10,000 beds in shelters throughout the five boroughs, officials said.

The city has pointed to the amount of migrants arriving declining as the reason for the closures. 25 shelter sites were already announced to be closing by March 2025 including Floyd Bennet Field and Randall’s Island.
