  2. With more than 200 people having died in traffic accidents so far this year, a new study found that City Council districts where the majority of residents are Black have a 39 percent higher rate of traffic injuries than the rest of the city. The southeast Bronx has the highest rate of traffic fatalities, despite 70 percent of residents not owning cars, according to the study. (New York City Patch)
  3. Activists and public housing residents across the city are volunteering their time and, in some cases, their own apartments, to support migrants arriving to NYC from Texas. They say the items most in need right now are coats, hygiene products and shoes. (Gothamist)
  • Meanwhile, the new so-called "tent-city" on Randall's Island, which opened on Wednesday, was briefly identified on Google Maps as "Adams Tent City." (New York City Patch)

  • 'Gambling giants' in Times Square and Hudson Yards are presenting competing proposals for one of New York City's coveted casino licenses. The Times Square proposal has the support of the labor union representing actors and stage managers, but it's opposed by the Broadway League which represents theater owners and producers.
