NYC Driver Apprehended, Wanted For 2019 Fatal Hit-And-Run: Police

QUEENS, NY — A hit-and-run driver has been arrested nearly five years after he fatally struck a 67-year-old man on Christmas day in 2019, police said.

Ravindra Dharamjit, 26, has been charged with manslaughter criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and reckless driving, among others, police said.

Dharamjit is accused of driving a Toyota truck in the vicinity of 114th Street and Rockaway Blvd and striking Ainsley Dalrymple, 67, who was crossing Rockaway Boulevard, police said.

Officers who responded to the scene found the 67-year-old victim with severe head and body trauma laying between two parked cars.

He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Dharamjit fled the scene, police said.

He was apparently apprehended in Guyana, according to a New York Daily News report.
