  1. NYC is eliminating and reducing dozens of fines and regulations on small businesses. Mayor Adams hopes the changes, announced on Sunday, will save over 200,000 businesses up to $8.9 million in penalties. (New York Post )
  2. Quite a few new and old Broadway shows are struggling to fill seats in their audience, despite receiving strong reviews. “Come From Away,” which was a sold-out favorite starting in 2016, last reported just under 60% capacity, while a new musical, “The Skin of Our Teeth,” had only 39.04% capacity.   3. A running club in Brooklyn is proving to be a source of refuge for Ukrainians living in New York City. These seasoned runners are planning on taking part in the Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 21. (New York Daily News)
  4. A man believed to be in his 30s died after jumping off the rooftop of a building at East 89th Street and Third Avenue close to midnight on Saturday, police say. (PIX11 New York News)
  5. Three NYC members of Congress - Nydia Velazquez, Carolyn Maloney and Jerry Nadler - announced legislation on Sunday that would establish a commission to study and ultimately reduce the amount of helicopter traffic over the city. According to 311 data, noise complaints related to helicopters spiked 130% between 2019 and 2020. (amNY)
