The long-awaited ferry service will provide another public transportation option for New Yorkers and have multiple routes connecting the five boroughs. The service is currently hiring for a variety of positions, including deckhands and captains. All of the available jobs will be paid the city's living wage — currently at $11.70 per hour — or higher, and come with benefits, according to the mayor's office. You can view the job openings and learn more about the ferry service here.
The ferry service will be based, and all boats docked and maintained, out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where construction is currently underway. The ferry's homeport will be fully outfitted by early 2018, according to the mayor's office.
