NYC Landlord Kills Tenant With Bat Over Rent, Report Says

The landlord began arguing with the victim —​ identified as Kristopher Samaroo​ —​ and the interaction quickly escalated.

NEW YORK CITY — A 30-year-old man was beaten to death with a baseball bat over the weekend after a dispute with his landlord over unpaid rent.

The incident happened at a home on Throgs Neck Expressway around 6 p.m. on Saturday, when the victim walked outside his house and was confronted by his landlord and another man, police said.

The landlord began arguing with the victim — identified as Kristopher Samaroo — about unpaid back rent, and the interaction quickly escalated, according to a New York Post report.

The landlord, Omar Lamoni, 43, along with his half-brother Edwin Nina, 39, then beat Samaroo with a metal bat, police said.

The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Lamoni, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Nina was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

An investigation remains ongoing.
