Bad luck (literally) hit many New York City eateries this past week.
NEW YORK CITY — Bad luck hit — in one case, literally — a bevy of New York City eateries this past week.
Closures, a wayward beer truck and a bad health inspection were all on the menu of misfortunes.
And Patch's tiny local news team was there to pass along the bad news, along with some good nuggets.

The coffee shop at 4th Avenue and 11th Street this past week joined a nationwide unionizing trend.
"We're unionizing because we believe in democracy," said Victoria Blair, a two-year Starbucks employee who works at the Park Slope location.
Besides the union drive, New Yorkers saw other new developments in the city's restaurant scene.
Patch exclusively reported that a new 24/7 "restaurant/diner" will be coming to the Upper East Side.
And in Fort Greene, internet-famous chef Ham El-Waylly is partnering to open Strange Delight, an oyster and cocktail bar.

Now for the bad news.
A buffet of restaurants couldn't dodge the closure bullet. And one Popeyes couldn't dodge a Silver Bullet.
A Coors truck plowed into a Brooklyn Popeyes.
The crispy collision caused a temporary closure.
Boris & Horton, a popular dog-friendly café, announced it would permanently close next week.
A nearby Connecticut Muffin in Park Slope was shut down by health inspectors who found more than double the number of health violations needed to close a business
Littleneck, a well-loved New England-style seafood restaurant in Gowanus is closing its doors next month.
Gray Hawk Grill on the Upper East Side will be closing Saturday.
And, besides the Connecticut Muffin, health inspectors shuttered several restaurants — all of which were in Brooklyn.
