Upper West Siders polished Blue Suede Shoes for an Elvis-themed pop-up bar at Pekerna on Amsterdam Avenue between 88th and 89th streets. The bar, which is headed now to Boston and Chicago, looked like Elvis’ Jungle Room, inspired by his time in Hawaii.

Harlem's Uptown Night Market was preparing for its last weekend of the 2023 season on Oct. 12, promising great eats from 80 vendors after a record-breaking run. Some 110,000 New Yorkers have already enjoyed over 300 vendors at the market.

On the Upper East Side, workers at a game cafe continued their fight for union representation. Hex & Co. workers have their sites set on higher wages, better staffing and upward mobility.

Nearby, Lenox Hill's Workshop came under new ownership, promising a new cocktail spot that has yet to be named.

Aroma Indian Bistro was set to take over Lezzet Turkish Restaurant's spot on East 61st Street, while the Turkish eatery moved nearby on Lexington Avenue.

Now for the bad stuff. Businesses across Brooklyn, including Park Slope's Bonbon Lakay, Whisk & Whiskey and Brooklyn Navy Yard's Head Hi coffeeshop are all facing significant damage after floods wreaked havoc across New York City.

At restaurants across the city, inspectors found missing toilets, adulterated food, mislabeled pesticides, live cockroaches and mice. Gross.

The violations this week prompted health inspectors to close restaurants in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
