Address: 673 Atlantic Ave.

Brooklyn welcomed Atlantic Social to its Fort Greene neighborhood in March. Located right across the street from the Barclays Center, the bar-and-restaurant is the latest project from chef Dale Talde and restaurateurs John Bush and David Massoni, collectively responsible for The Three Kings Restaurant Group.

Atlantic Social features a menu including seasonal pastas made in house, pan-style pizza, General Tso’s wings and a “killer” nacho platter.

Cocoron

Neighborhood: Lower East Side

Address: 16 Delancey St.

As of February, little soba restaurant Cocoron has moved from its 61 Delancey home to a corner residence directly across from Sara D. Roosevelt Park on 16 Delancey — try not to get the two confused!

What is soba, you ask? Soba is the Japanese name for buckwheat, usually referring to thin noodles made from buckwheat flour in contrast to thick wheat noodles, called udon. Cocoron prides itself on “juicy, healthy, tasty” comfort food. The restaurant’s Instagram account offers a stream of visuals.

Queens Bully

Neighborhood: Forest Hills

Address: 113-30 Queens Blvd.

Queens Bully, named after Queens Boulevard, debuted in April under the leadership of Rohan Aggarwal and Suraj Patel. The Forest Hills gastropub focuses on comfort food and barbecue, with a menu that is inspired by the diverse cultures that exist throughout the borough. Stop in for locally sourced vegetables, herbs grown on the Queens Bully premises, local craft beers, wines and whiskey-centric cocktails.

Sushi Katsuei

Neighborhood: West Village

Address: 357 Sixth Ave.

Sushi omakase spot Sushi Katsuei has transitioned from its original residence in Brooklyn’s Park Slope to the West Village, taking over the building that previously belonged to Michelin-starred Soto. Omakase means the dishes are chosen by the chef. The Sushi Katsuei website offers “sushi for everyone.” Yelp reviews laud the restaurant for an accommodating staff, fresh food and unique flavors.

F.O.B. Brooklyn

Neighborhood: Gowanus

Address: 271 Smith St.

F.O.B. Brooklyn is Gowanus’ newest Filipino spot, with an emphasis on barbecue. A message on the restaurant’s website personalizes the menu’s authenticity: “We’re cooking it like my family cooks it at home on a Sunday afternoon.”

F.O.B. opened this past winter and promises a selection of dishes that are uncomplicated, not too heavy and “super sarap!”

PokeLICious

Neighborhood: Long Island City

Address: 5-37 51st Ave.

First of all — what is poke? Pronounced “POH-keh,” it's a raw fish salad served as an appetizer, and sometimes as an entree, in Hawaiian cuisine. Its popularity in the United States has consistently increased since 2011 and now PokeLIcious — open since February — brings it to the residents of Long Island City. Options are extensive, with a selection of signature burritos available as well.

Ikinari Steak

Neighborhood: East Village

Address: 90 E 10th St.

Japan-based Ikinari is a standing — yes, standing — steak restaurant that opened in March. The idea behind Ikinari’s inception, per the restaurant’s website, is to serve “super thick,” high-quality meats quickly and economically amid a fun, interactive and communal experience. Ikinari opened in Tokyo in December 2013 and now has more than 100 locations throughout Japan. Steaks are cooked to order on an open fire, presented on a cast-iron platter, and guests can pour a signature soy sauce-based drizzle over the meat to heighten flavor.

Motel Morris

Neighborhood: Chelsea

Address: 132 Seventh Ave.

Motel Morris sports a vaguely retro aesthetic, brought to Chelsea from the team behind The Commons Chelsea. The menu offers seasonal American cuisine with global influences, including spaghetti with garlic-braised kale, chicken-fried buttermilk pork chops, a butterscotch banana pudding pie, local craft beers and a fresh take on classic cocktails. There’s also a curated wine list by Motel Morris General Manager Jamie Sternberg.
