- A law went into effect yesterday in New York City requiring employers to disclose minimum and maximum pay ranges in online job postings. The Salary Transparency Law is part of a greater effort to combat pay inequity, city records show. Some businesses, however, have created what appear to be deliberately large ranges, potentially subverting the law's goal. (New York City Patch)
- The Brotherhood of Oddly Enough Workers, made up of the nine workers at the queer Bed-Stuy bar Oddly Enough, took further steps towards forming a union this week, filing papers that would allow them to hold an election with the National Labor Relations Board. (New York City Patch)
- An appeals court has reversed a Republican challenge to New York State's absentee-voting laws, which allow New Yorkers to request and submit a ballot by mail if they are afraid of catching an infectious disease such as COVID-19. The law will remain in effect for the 2022 voting cycle. (Gothamist)
- New York City Department of Buildings Commissioner Eric Ulrich had his cellphone seized by investigators for the Manhattan District Attorney's office on Tuesday morning as part of an illegal gambling investigation, according to sources with knowledge of the matter. - A new lawsuit filed by the family of a Rikers detainee who took his life in 2021 alleges that corrections officers failed to check up on him leading up to his death, and that at least one officer falsified paperwork. (THE CITY)
