Miranda at a recent council hearing said the NYPD is responsible for any cash seized during raids.
“They are the ones who voucher the property depending on the circumstances of the location,” Miranda said during a Sept.17 hearing. “They will either voucher it for safekeeping or they will voucher it as investigatory evidence, depending on the different circumstances.”
Union officials have said that Miranda's statements about the vouchering process wasn't true and instead deputy sheriffs have still been asked to voucher cash and products, according to the Daily News report.
Miranda has been in the position since May 2022.
