NYC Weather: 60-Degree Highs, Showers Bring Hint Of Spring

Get ready for a wet, warm next couple of days.

NEW YORK CITY — A wet, warm early spring kiss is coming to New York City this week.

Highs of 60 and rain showers are expected into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

A chance of showers enters the forecast Tuesday after 4 p.m. and will become all-but-certain into the evening, the forecast states.

"Chance of precipitation is 90%," Tuesday evening's forecast states. "New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible."

Rain will continue into Wednesday, which will be a balmy 60 degrees, the forecast states.

But the spring-like warmth won't last.

Temperatures will plunge Wednesday evening into Thursday, with wind chills hitting as low as 20 degrees, according to the forecast.

"Winds could gust as high as 39 mph," the forecast states.

Thursday's leap day weather likely will be a last gasp of winter, at least for the foreseeable forecast.

Highs will tick up into the mid-50s by the weekend, although rain could return, the forecast states.
