NYC Weather: Brace For 60 MPH Wind Gusts

NEW YORK CITY — An ill wind threatens to batter New York City before giving way to a taste of spring, forecasters warn.

Strong wind gusts of up to 60 mph could blow through the city Monday, a wind advisory states.

The wind advisory will remain in effect until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects," the advisory states. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

The wind will range from 20 mph to 30 mph, with most gusts in the 50-mph range, according to the advisory.

"Isolated gusts around 60 mph are possible," the advisory states.

New Yorkers disheartened by the wind after a wet weekend will have literal rays of sunshine to look forward to, however.

Sunny skies and spring-like highs in the 60s are expected for the rest of this week, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

Highs will hit 65 degrees Wednesday, and nearly as warm Thursday, the forecast states.
