NYC Weather: Deluge Continues As Mother's Day Looks Like Washout

NEW YORK – April showers are turning into a May deluge as Mother's Day weekend looks set to be yet another washout.

Rain fell on 18 of April's days, according to the National Weather Service's Central Park observatory. A total of 4.55 inches soaked the city. Since the start of the year, 16.4 inches of precipation have fallen.

And that total will increase over the next few days. Sunday is expected to bring up to another half inch of rain.

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. South wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. South wind around 9 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night
A 30 percent chance of rain after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

Sunday
A 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. East wind 10 to 13 mph.

Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
